Went to volunteer for Sundown Marathon 2012. It was a new experience for me. Made new friends, learnt new things, and I now know that slippers are your best friends when it comes to working hydration stations.

Tiring yet fulfilling night/day, whichever you want to call it. First time working at hydration stations, and I must say, it was a totally new experience compared to being part of the Finish Point crew for SCMS 2011. Lack of manpower over at both the 100plus & water stations left me with wet shoes, socks and shorts. My coach wallet got wet (which was stupid), my shoes and socks were thoroughly soaked in water & 100plus, and that was just part 1 of my duty for the event.
Part 2 was more challenging. Though we worked with only water, the runners that came by our stations was like a zombie apocalypse. They just kept on coming! And I had to run all over the place for paper cups, rip open cardboard boxes, and open 1.5L bottles as fast as possible. Ended up with a small cut on my right middle finger and several minor wounds.
Walked back to the Volunteer site after we were done with our duties, and then we had to seek shelter under the bus stop and endure the super cold wind.  Managed to move into the manpower tent (I think) before we were moved to another location. Then the whole group followed our GL (Group Leader) to deliver some food to AWA. Felt like I was in Running Man when the whole group ran through the rain, super fun! Finished delivering, we returned to our tents to rest before we collected our allowance and were dismissed. Walked to several places in search of my slippers before I finally gave up and went to AOH before going home.
Not forgetting the fact that I wore my soaked socks and shoes all the way until Yew Tee MRT, which was roughly about 10 hours? Walked home barefooted, attracted stares from many people.
This event made me really motivated to train hard and participate in the events. Especially since there is a finisher shirt and a SUPER CHIO medal!

Sundown Marathon 2012!

Volunteer T-Shirt

Used paper cups. Only a small portion of the whole thing.

The "tornado".

Different point of view.

This was what the volunteers did after their duty ended.

100plus to reward ourselves after all that we have done.

Light sticks on shoes.
