title : JC life

Truth be told, I came to AJ because many friends from my secondary school picked AJ as well. I had absolutely no background knowledge of the college, to the extent whereby I don't even know of its existence until after I got my O level results.

Coming into JC, it was a really big change for me. Orientation was definitely a key highlight of my JC1 year (compared to my sec sch, coupled with the fact that I didn't attend outside orientation camps like Red Camp). Because back then (2 years ago), our OG was our class. So there was more bonding involved. But after that came the temporary timetable, and I got so stressed up because I was from combined science and couldn't understand anything during the Chem lecture. Things got worse when the JC1 timetable went into full swing. The year was spent mostly through stressful times, with a few highlights here and there. AB Camp 2012 was a great success in my opinion. I learnt the true meaning of being a leader, and things I learnt from the camp, I still keep it within me.

Promos came, and it came in so fast I thought I was hit by a freight train or something. It came and went so fast, and then it was intensive PW period. Probably the most fun I've had with my class, going off task most of the time and basically just enjoyed ourselves. After that was the most dreaded day - release of Promo results. True enough, I didn't make it. My speculations throughout the year proved to be right, and I was left all alone while my class promoted to JC2. Going through retaining and having to accept the fact of repeating another year wasn't easy. And really, I wanna thank Mr Tan (PE teacher) for personally coming to speak to me. If not for him, I probably wouldn't have stayed in AJ.

2013. The year of repeating JC1. I like to call it JC1.5 HAHA. Spent most of Jan roaming the school and doing things that I otherwise wouldn't be able to, like camping at one corner of the canteen the entire day, or attending lessons as and when I liked. Then it was Orientation 2013. Made new friends, and I decided to really live my life for the whole of 2013. Joined climbing instead of photographic soxiety, and looking back, that was probably one of the best decisions ever made. Had my second AB Camp 2013. And also won my first sports boy award that year as well. Was appointed captain of my CCA. Basically the year was very, very eventful for me, compared to 2012.

Promos went well. Not as good as expected, but decent enough to move on to JC2, like finally. And yeah, it wasn't easy. But I sure am glad it turned out okay.

And when I look back at myself repeating JC1 in 2013, that was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made. Probably one of the best opportunities by God.
